Laguna Phuket Food & Music Festival

Asia’s premier destination resort "Laguna Phuket" will organize an inaugural "Laguna Phuket Food & Music Festival" in March 2017 to celebrate Phuket Province’s status as a “City of Gastronomy”, honored on 11 December 2015 by the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

The Festival

In celebration of its 30th Anniversary in 2017, Laguna Phuket presents an exciting new Food & Music Festival to mark the significant milestone at Asia’s first premier destination resort, with its three-kilometre pristine Bangtao Beach at northwestern Phuket Island, Thailand.

Supported by Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) to heighten Phuket Province’s status as a “City of Gastronomy” conferred by the UNESCO, the inaugural Food & Music Festival will set the stage to create yet another lifestyle destination event from Friday 3 March to Sunday 5 March 2017 within its resort complex.

Ringing in the mood of festivities on Friday 3 March, various Laguna Phuket’s resorts will whip up sumptuous Music & Wine dinners.

On Saturday 4 March, the Festival held at Canal Village by the tranquil lagoons will feature ‘live’ culinary demonstrations by Chef Audra Morrice along with other international chefs, pop-up concept food booths serving tantalising international and Peranakan cuisine, food truck and beer garden accompanied by vibrant professional musical performances. There will also be the very first Laguna Phuket Chefs Challenge emphasising the use of local ingredients.

The Festival’s star-studded Charity Gala Dinner with auctions will be held on 4 March at the resort’s grand Latitude Marquee with celebrity stars’ appearance.

The Laguna Phuket Charity Super Sunday Brunch on Sunday 5 March will take place at the contemporary XANA Beach Club with food only and free-flow beverages options.

The Charity

Staying true to its ethos of Empowering People throughout its celebrations, a Children First Fund with the objective of “Nourishing Hearts, Inspiring Dreams” has specially been set up. Proceeds of the key events will be contributed in support of the nutrition of needy children in Phuket orphanages.

Alfonso brings with him a highly-developed focus on modern and international cuisine, honed over decades of experience at some of the world’s most distinguished restaurants. His considerable talents found their expression at ARZAK, a 3-star Michelin restaurant in Spain – and then again at El Bulli, another 3-star Michelin restaurant, considered by many to be the best in the world.

Alfonso next became Chef de Cuisine at Spain’s most successful catering company, Catering Medens. Jazziam plays timeless Jazz standards, but does not shy away from experimenting with funky reinventions of these old tunes, always keeping swing, freedom, and improvisation as the main focus. The band members regularly write new tunes and release original material. Each of the band members has extensive experience playing in different styles with various groups – in this way, they continue to bring fresh input into the Jazziam collaboration. Jazziam plays at weddings, business functions, swing dance parties, and other special events - venues include the British Club, Smiles Jazz & Bistro, Fubar, Chatrium Hotel, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel, the Hop, Thammasart Asociation, and Sala Sudasiri Sobha, among others.
