Laguna Phuket Associates Saving Co-Operative
Laguna Phuket Social Committee successfully established the Laguna Phuket Associates Saving Co-Operative in January 2010 with the objective of providing secure, reliable, profitable, and fair financial services to members. As “shareholders,” members are entitled to such benefits as annual dividends, low interest loans, and high interest savings schemes.
Children First Fund
Children First Fund (CFF) is established as part of the celebrations commemorating the 30th anniversary of Laguna Phuket. We celebrate by recognizing the history Laguna Phuket has already established in the area of community education, and to honor this history and to build upon it we now extend our outreach to include orphans who will be the beneficiaries of the Children First Fund (CFF).
CFF motto is “Nourishing Hearts, Inspiring Dreams” because nurturing the hearts and minds of orphans in our community should also go hand-in-hand with providing material sustenance for their growing and developing brains, and we all know that brains need good food! It will be a wonderful way for Laguna guests to contribute the betterment of the wider community, a community which, in effect, is always hosting visitors to Phuket.
The key objective of CFF is to constantly provide sustenance to Phuket orphans and underprivileged children. As of January 2021, CFF supports 7 organizations. These organizations have been established to care for orphans, abandoned, impoverished, and underprivileged children in Phuket province.
The Code
As part of a Group-wide’s mission, Laguna Phuket is one of the 32 properties across 4 continents which are participating to support the protection of children from sexual exploitation, along with their mission statement for responsible tourism and environmental protection. Each property is required to implement 6 different elements which include
- Providing information to travelers.
- Training associates to raise their awareness about the issue.
- Creating its own policy related to The Code.
- Creating a clause related to The Code in contract with suppliers.
- Partaking In partnership with other stakeholders to prevent the issue.
- Reporting to authorized agencies if any cases of children being exploited are found
After the 1st month of implementation, nearly 3,000 out of 10,000 associates in the Group were trained. This number has exceeded the requirement of 25% of total associates to complete the e-learning by Q1 as per required from the Group. A Group poster about The Code has also been developed and put in place in many resorts as a means of communication to provide the information to guests.
